Okay so I am so not happy to say that since August I have gained 11 lbs. I know that I am not doing half the amount of cardio I was doing before but my eating has been not so good either. I have enjoyed more treats than I should and it shows.

I have found the rolls I once lost and my pants are fitting tight again. I am still in the same pants but they were once loose and on the way out of my closet and now they are snug......YUCK.

So anyways I vowed to not focus on anything negative this year. It is all about focusing on what is good and moving towards the vision I have for myself. I saw what I accomplished last year with the marathon and I am ready to push to the next level.

I did pretty well on my first day of the 90 day plan. I actually didn't eat as much as I wanted to or had planned to. Here is what I did:

Meal #1- smoothie (mixed frozen fruit, ground flaxseed and a large handful of fresh spinach w/ water) and 2 large glasses of water.

Meal #2- steamed veggie salad (mixed steamed veggies, romaine lettuce, salsa, and a drizzle of amino acids) 1 piece of whole wheat sourdough bread w/ a little Earth Balance.

Meal #3- a few cucumber slices w/ hummus (oil free, homemade), a few apple slices with 1 tsp of natural peanut butter

Meal #4- 1 pita pizza (1 whole wheat pita, tomato paste, mushrooms, spinach, salsa, lite sprinkle of non dairy cheese)

Meal #5- 1 brown rice cake w/ a smear of tomato paste for flavor :)

Workout: Chest and back DVD

Did awesome but I can do better. I haven't done pushups in a looooong time and I need to gain upper body strength again. I think we had to do about uuuuummmmmm a million pushups! No more like 150 or something. I will be sore tomorrow for sure.

Supreme 90 Days

I bought a new workout program last night called Supreme 90. I saw it on the TV this week and was intrigued to try it out. I did some research and learned it was similar to P90X but much less expensive. (Only $19.99) It comes with 11 DVD targeting different muscles groups and cardio sessions, a 90 day progress chart, and 90 day meal plan.

I was going to order it online but I was disappointed to see it would take 4-6 weeks to recieve. Then I read a comment on a message board that said they sell the program at Walgreens. I was super excited and my daughter said she had seen it there that night. I couldn't wait to go the next day and buy one.

Sure enough right after work I went to the store and bought it. I was so excited I opened the box and watched one of the DVDs (Back and Chest). It looks intense but very manageable.

It also comes with a meal plan that was created by Tosca Reno the author of the New York Best Seller "The Clean Eats Diet". I have her book and already follow some of her advice.

So I wrote out my menu for week one and can't wait to get started on Monday. I am going to document my progress as follows.

Day 1, Day 15, Day 30, Day 45, Day 60, Day 75 and Day 90. I will take measurements and pictures to share with you.

My computer has been acting a little tricky so I will do my best to get the pics uploaded as soon as I can.

I will try to come on here as much as I can to document each days workout and meals so you can follow along with me.

Loving how strong I feel

I had two awesome workouts on my days off. I was off this Wednesday and Thursday and took advantage of the gym. I do workout DVDs at home during the week but I was craving an intense cardio session. I wanted to also see where my fitness level was. I was kind of worried that it had went down a notch since I haven't been running.

To my surprise I did amazing and wanted to cry because it felt so amazing to be in the game again. I love pushing my body to it's limits and being my own personal training. I don't just go to the gym to walk on the treadmill. I really work hard and I love it.

I am proud of my focus and dedication. Here is a sample of what I did over the last two days.


Treadmill (3 miles)- 3 sets of incline runs at 4.6 mph from 0 to 5% incline and a steady pace run. My abs were burning during this run.

Stationary Bike: (30 minutes) various speeds and resistance levels from 1 to 10.


Elliptical: 15 minute warm up varying intensity and resistance levels

Resistance training: using rubber bands I did 2 sets/ 30 reps of bicep curls, tricep extensions, chest press, back rows, squats, pushups, and bootie work (not sure what they are called...LOL!)

Stairmaster: 20 minutes interval training- 3 minutes at 45 steps per minute and 1 minute at 20 steps per minute alternating for 15 minutes. 5 minutes of cool down at 20 steps per minute.

Treadmill: (30 minutes) incline interval run from 0-5% incline, 5 minutes of walking backwards at 1.8 mph and 12% incline (this engages your quads), 5 minutes of walking forward at 2.5 mph and 12% incline (this engages your hamstrings), incline interval run from 0-5% incline at 4.8 mph, steady pace run and cool down walk.

So this was my crazy workout. I like mixing things up so I don't get bored. I also get my heart rate up and bring it back down so it gets stronger and my body is challenged. It also makes me sweat a lot. I was drenched when I left the gym.

A good stretch makes it easy for me to get up the next day. If I don't stretch well my body tightens up and I am extremely sore the next day. I am grateful to God for this amazing workout.

It feels good to be able to do this and reward my body with healthy clean food. :)

What's New


Okay so I have decided to start eating more raw foods. I started a new eating regimen and I look forward to seeing where it takes me. It is definitely going to bring along it's own challenges but just like converting to veganism I know I can do this too.

It will be 1 yr in March since I became vegan. I have not eaten any meat, chicken, fish or other animal flesh but some milk has snuck into my mouth. No ice cream, milk, cheese or butter but sometimes I eat something like chocolate, cookies or crackers that have a trace of it.

I am proud of my progress this far but I have another level I need to reach. So going 80% raw will be my next goal. I am still learning about being raw. I love rice, beans and soups so I will still eat those but not as much as I used to.

It will be a lot easier now that it is going to get warmer soon. I need to research some recipes and watch the videos my cousin has been watching.

I thought about going raw because I have had issues with my hair falling out a lot. After praying about it the thought of becoming a raw vegan came into my mind. I said "okay let's see how this goes". I definitely know I need to eliminate gluten and soy because that has been on my heart for a while.

So this next phase of my healthy journey will be exciting and I look forward to updating you with my progress.

It's time to eat to live and not live to eat. :)


I started running again. I did 3 miles today. I can do more but I wanted to run with more intensity so I did some incline runs and ran at a faster pace. I also did the bike with resistance to get the fat melting and the heart racing.

I have also incorporated more resistance training. I work with resistance bands and dumbbells at least 2 times a week. I do abs everyday....sometimes twice a day. I know my body will definitely respond in a different way with these new workouts.

I can't just look at the scale because I know that with weight training the muscle you build is heavier than the fat.

My abs have a lot of muscle but I still have LOTS of fat on top of them. The new diet will help me shed the fat so I can once and for all have the abs I have desired for so many years.

This is a new year and I am ready to accomplish new goals. I hope you continue to follow my journey.

My thoughts and updates

Well I just wanted to update this blog on how I have been doing. I haven't been on here in a while because I just wasn't feeling inspired to write anything. I have had a lot going on with the marathon, the holidays and moving into my own place.

I am finally settled in and I am really enjoying having my own place again. It has been 5 or more years since I have been on my own. I have been living with family members and I am so happy to be on my own again.

A lot has been going on with me lately. God has really been dealing with me in a different way. I am more at peace with the external things in my life. I am learning to not accept but be at peace with what is going on in my life.

What I mean is that even though I may not like everything I trust that God is in control and in due season things will work out according to His will. My job is to meditate on His goodness and guard my heart.

God's word says that we should guard our hearts because out of it flow the issues of life. I must protect the way I feel about things. I can't focus on the external. I must meditate on and surrender to what is eternal (the Spirit).

So as far as my weight loss goes I have chosen to not obsess about it. I still have goals and will continue to eat healthy and workout but I don't want my whole life to revolve around that one part.

I am learning to be comfortable with my body and love myself no matter what. I have learned that it is not about what is on the outside that counts (as cliche as that may sound). Fulfilling my dream of running the marathon even though I am still 30 lbs over my goal weight made me realize that the numbers don't matter.

As long as I am healthy and strong the numbers don't define me, add anything or take anything away from who I am inside. Deep at the core of my being my weight does not matter.

What matters the most is loving myself and from that place I can make positive healthy changes. It is not about vanity. It is about honoring and respecting this beautiful human body God has created.

I will continue to blog as much as I can but not the way I used to. I plan to change the way I blog and I hope to still inspire someone to live their best life.

We were created perfect and I will continually walk with confidence knowing that God made no mistakes when He designed me. :)
